Dots And Lines Series
I did this series after I discovered that I have problems controlling my hands. I could no longer draw straight lines like I used to. So I used dots to draw a line. Meaning I draw many dots to form a line.
Kek Lok Si Temple, art pen on acid free paper, 230mm X 160mm. I was very relax and free when I did this piece (from photo). Visually I think the pagoda and the Kuan Yin pavillion are fighting for attention. So I resolve this by making the pavillion smaller and with less detail.
The famous Cheong Fatt Tze Mason has lots of details and decoration. In this small work, 230mm X 160mm, I could only "suggest" these detail with my lines and leave the viewers to imagine the rest.
It took me quite a while to do this small piece (230mm X 160mm) of Khoo Kongsi. But I really enjoyed drawing this unique building.
I did this from a photo taken many years ago. Kuan Yim Teng temple no longer look like this anymore. Somehow I miss the old look of the temple.
My older works. Some of these were exhibited in my Second Solo Show in January 2014.
